In this month’s spotlight, we spoke with Ms Nguyen Thi Thu Hieu, Managing Director of Quoc Huy Anh Corporation (QHA). Headquartered in Vietnam, QHA is a member of a group of trading companies that specialise in investment, manufacturing and global commerce.

Highlights of the conversation:

PaperOne™: Hi Ms Nguyen, thank you for taking the time to speak with us. Tell us more about yourself and what you do at QHA.

Nguyen: Thank you for having me. I’ve been with QHA since 2007, and my role as the Managing Director includes overseeing the operations of the paper division of our business, and leading a team of passionate individuals to ensure that we meet both our short-term and long-term goals.

PaperOne™: You and your team have definitely come a long way. Why and how did you decide to partner with APRIL Group to bring PaperOne™ to Vietnam?

Nguyen: We’re very proud of our accomplishments as a company so far. QHA was one of the first companies to introduce high-quality imported paper to the Vietnamese market, when the only option back then was lower quality local OEM brands.

Choosing to partner with APRIL Group was an obvious choice — they provided excellent customer service and ensured that not only our needs, but the needs of our local market were being met. This helped us to lay the foundation and set the standards for office paper locally, and subsequently established PaperOne™ as a household name.

PaperOne™: What are some of the PaperOne™ products that QHA is selling?

Nguyen: We focus on bringing in the office paper range — from PaperOne™ Digital to ZAP. Our goal is to provide our customers with a wide range of products to suit their different needs and price preferences.

PaperOne™: Having been in the paper industry for so many years, what are some of the challenges that you and your team have managed to overcome together?

Nguyen: One of the biggest challenge would be the changing preferences of our customers. Due to shifting consumer and market trends, and the digitisation of workflow, we see a decline in demand for office paper. However, our team sees this as a challenge and has worked hard to identify new opportunities in the high-quality printing paper segment. We are excited to start moving in that direction.

PaperOne™: What is something interesting about QHA that not many people know about?

Nguyen: We take pride in our ‘heart to heart’ business philosophy and ‘triple win’ business principle — core factors that were developed from the early days of QHA. Our focus has always been to build business relations on the tenets of trust, positivity and transparency. These have helped us nurture strong partnerships not only within our nation-wide sales agency network, but also with international partners.
